I like this video and I feel that adverse examinations in civil cases should be addressed in one of your upcoming videos and tips for closing argument as well.

I love the Trial Tips Newsletter. Great video, too! It’s good to be reminded that this isn’t rocket science. It makes it less intimidating.

I loved the “treadmill of success” concept. I just need to win my first case to get on that treadmill!
Thanks for the great tips. Would love to see some more tips for improving cross-examination, especially how to impeach witnesses with prior inconsistent statement and what I should do during deposition to lock them down.

Great video!! Keep them coming. I’d like some tips on how to handle a witness who will not answer your questions. I had a recent experience where the witness knew it was bad for him so he simply played ignorant on the witness stand and pretended not to remember anything. How can you handle a witness like that?

Elliot,
I enjoyed the video. I bought your Trial Lawyer Success System last Fall and it has made all the difference with my confidence level. I re-read the materials and pick up something new every time. The video reaffirms what I have read. “Always ask leading questions” is a rule I now never break. Keep the videos coming.

Nice upbeat video that makes me salivate for more. I think trial lawyers are like actors – natural born hams and hopelessly insecure. We never feel prepared, even when we are, and we are always looking for more techniques to improve our presentations. But that’s ok, it goes with the territory and we don’t get complacent. I would like to learn some pointers for using tech tools to present demonstrative evidence.

This is great. I will use of your techniques to teach lawyers in Africa when I return to my home country. You made it easy by that line in cross examination: “Remember, you are the one testifying.” I will remember that expression for the rest of my life. I am a visual learner. I can imagine myself testing on the facts I want to enter into evidence with only “yes” and “yes” responses from the actual witness. Nothing as cool as that. Thank you.

Great video. I’m a product of the English legal system and mostly involved in training thesedays … but find the openness and clarity of American lawyers really interesting and useful.

Thanks for this video, very helpful – fascinating stuff (though hard to write quickly enough!).
I’m a litigant in person suing a case at the High Court, London and would love to know more about what to do with difficult witnesses – and how long to spend on the opening address. -

Where do I find these “formulas?” My law school didn’t have a very strong trial practice program, so I don’t have a good background yet…

Persuasive! How about Family Law judge-alone trials!
Great video – lots of fun! I’d like to learn how to tell a better story during opening statement. I get bogged down trying to get ALL of the details across to the jury, and I think I lose their attention. Any tips would be appreciated!
